Best Comedy Movies/Dramas to Watch with your Loved Ones

It is my belief (which I have tested numerous times) that a good comedy can overturn your stresses in a blink. Comedy is the most loved genre of cinema and television in the United States and rightly so, as well. This genre sits so well with the audiences that now filmmakers add comedy pangs even in serious thrillers and mystery movies. Furthermore, watching comedy movies can induce a lot of health benefits.

In this article, we have come up with a rundown of the best comedies to watch with your family. All of these movies can be found airing on cable television or can even be streamed online. I, for one, like to be taken aback by the television airings of my favorite movies and TV shows; however, certain times require you to watch certain content and so streaming is a great option. As such, the best bargain that I have found is to subscribe to the basic Cox Cable TV plan that offers enough channels to take care of all your entertainment needs!

The Rundown Begins Now:

1. The Hangover

Released in 2009, The Hangover remains one of the best comedy movies of all time. It starts with four best friends driving up to Las Vegas to celebrate the last bachelor night of one of them and ends with everything being upside down. One crazy night of fun and excitement leads them to the point that they swear off such parties. However, in the next two parts, we see the fun getting crazier.

Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, and Ken Jeong play the main lead characters of The Hangover. The film made 469.3 million USD globally.

2. That’s my Boy

What can you expect from a movie that features Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg? A TON OF FUN and that is exactly what this movie delivers. Sandler plays the role of Samberg’s father who got involved with his teacher in the teen years birthing Samberg. The fact that he was a teen parent made him kind of lousy due to which Samberg leaves him for good but things take a turn when Sandler shows up for Samberg’s wedding after years.

The movie is an immense delight and made almost 57.7 million USD at the box office.

3. Murder Mystery

Another Adam Sandler movie that features Jennifer Aniston alongside, Murder Mystery is a comedy movie about a couple visiting Europe and getting involved with some bad apples. After becoming a suspect in a billionaire’s murder, the couple decides to find the real culprit. Sandler and Aniston’s on-screen chemistry has always been cherished and this movie is no exception. This is a sure-shot comedy movie to watch with family.

4. The 40-year-old Virgin

As the name suggests, the movie is about Andy, who is 40 years old, works at a superstore and is still a virgin.  While he is interesting and friendly, he still cannot find a romantic partner. His friends help him in his quest to find a real connection and the story takes a turn when he finally meets Trish. The movie is all about delivery and the actors playing these funny characters have done pure justice.

The main cast includes Steve Carell, Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and Catherine Keener. It was an immense success at the box office and grossed almost 175 million USD.

5. Central Intelligence Agency

In Central Intelligence, the character of Calvin Joyner, played by actor Kevin Hart, is a high school prodigy and an extremely intelligent young man. He was not only valedictorian of his graduating class at Hill Valley High School but also won first place in the International Science Fair.

Bob Stone (Dwayne Johnson), who was bullied as a child for being overweight, turns up to his high school reunion looking strong and muscular. He meets Calvin Joyner, a fast-talking accountant who laments his golden days as a popular athlete, while he’s there. Stone is now a deadly CIA operative, and he needs Calvin’s math talents to safeguard the US surveillance satellite system, which has been hacked. While attempting to avoid global anarchy, the old classmates face shootouts, espionage, and double-crosses.

6. Ride Along

Next on the list, we have another masterpiece from Kevin Hart. Omar, a never-before-seen criminal boss, is establishing a presence in Atlanta, and detective James (Ice Cube) has been scouring his sources to locate and apprehend him before he causes big havoc. But, the elusive genius continues to elude him. Meanwhile, his sister, Angela (Tamika Sumpter), is on the verge of proposing to her boyfriend, Ben (Kevin Hart), a high school guard who believes he has what it takes to become a full-fledged cop (he’s just been admitted to the police academy), owing to his impressive video-gaming skills. By inviting Ben to ride along with him at work one day, James hopes to deter Ben from his line of work and maybe scare him away for good (from both the job and his sister). But, as expected, things go wrong.

7. Johnny English

Johnny English is a British comedy film directed by Peter Howitt, produced by John Davis, and written by William Davies. The film stars Rowan Atkinson in the title role. It also features Ben Miller, Emma Thompson, Linda Bassett, Tim Pigott-Smith, and Dominic West. The film was released on 5 September 2003.

The film was produced by Working Title Films for Universal Pictures. It is loosely based on characters created by Dane Williamson in a series of advertisements for Barclaycard in the late 1990s. The story follows Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson), a highly-skilled but hopelessly inept secret agent who has been assigned to protect the Chinese premier when he visits Britain.
